Bat Removal, Holly Springs in North Carolina

Because bats are primarily nocturnal, it isn’t always immediately apparent that you have a bat in your home. They sleep during most of the daylight hours and then leave to hunt and forage during the nighttime. North Carolina is host to over 17 species of bats, some of which are endangered. As a biologist-led company, we appreciate the bat for its efforts in pollination, insect control and scientific discovery. That is why we always work towards gentle and humane bat removal services.

Once we have completed our bat removal services, we will get up on ladders or crawl into tight spaces to find and photograph their points of entry. North Carolina Bat Removal FAQs

North Carolina is home to all kinds of wildlife, including raccoons, rodents, bats, birds, squirrels, and much more. While most of us would prefer to observe wildlife in their natural habitat, there are several occasions when the wildlife outside might attempt to join our living spaces inside. Here at Wild Science Solutions, we want to help you with all your wildlife removal needs. Bat removal is something that many people have questions about, and we wanted to take a chance to address these questions here in our bat removal FAQ section.

How do I know if I have a bats in my attic?

Because bats are often most active at night or the early evening, some people don’t always realize they have bats right away, but you might hear chirps, noises, or notice signs along your roofline such as rubbing marks or droppings in your attic.

Why can’t I get rid of the bats nesting in my attic?

From May 1st through July 31st is a nesting period for most bats. During this time, transferring or removing bats from your home is prohibited by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.

Why is there a protected season for bats?

Bats are an important part of the ecology in North Carolina. Because they are able to eat bugs at the rate of 1,000 insects per hour, it is important that bats are given the protection they need to feed and reproduce. During the blackout period, bats are typically nesting with their babies (called pups) and the mothers need to leave to eat and return to their young. Disturbing them during this time can cause the pups to starve to death.

Do you perform bat extermination?

No. Bats are a protected species on both the state and federal level. We will, however, complete bat removal, relocation, and cleanup outside of the nesting period.

What can I do to prevent bats from nesting in my home?

Before or after the blackout period, also known as the maternity season or maternal period, you can have our experts seal up your home. We’ll look at your shutters, gables, roofline and other common entry points to find the locations where bats could enter (they’re smaller than you might realize) and seal them up tight.

Do you offer emergency services?

Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency services for all our pest control services. If a bat makes their way into your living spaces, we can help.

I saw a bat in my attic-- what should I do?

Please give our experts a call. We can help give you tips to keep the bats out of your living spaces until the blackout period has ended, at which point we are able to come and remove the bats in a safe, humane manner.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes! We believe in fair and upfront pricing, including free estimates.
